Authorities in New Delhi are cracking down on medical facilities that have failed to prevent mosquito breeding on their premises in an effort to control vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season. Legal notices and prosecutions have been issued to facilities found with breeding sites, with the west zone having the highest number of cases. The primary objective is to prevent water stagnation, which serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The BJP has questioned the authenticity of these efforts, with residents calling for RWAs to be involved in the effort. The MCD will roll out the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign from September 14 to October 1 to focus on sanitation activities.
