The Inspector of Police in Mangalampettai police station in Cuddalore district was suspended for allegedly taking a bribe in a murder case. The Deputy Inspector General of Police ordered the suspension after an investigation found that the Inspector had received ₹1.50 lakh from a suspect’s son to not include his name in the case. Complaints about a lackluster investigation led to a team conducting an enquiry, which confirmed the bribe. The suspension was based on the enquiry report, showing the seriousness of the issue.
