A man has been sentenced to 27 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl after spiking her food or drink. The court also ordered a compensation of Rs 15 lakh for the survivor, stating that it is her fundamental right to receive redressal for the wrong done to her. The judge emphasized the importance of not only punishing the offender but also rehabilitating the survivor who has been scarred physically and mentally. The court found the convict guilty based on testimonies and sentenced him accordingly under relevant sections of the law. The prosecution argued against leniency and the man was sentenced to 20 years under Pocso and seven years under IPC.
