The Maharashtra government has decided to remove the requirement of a non-agriculture (NA) charter for setting up a new industry on agricultural land in order to streamline the process and encourage more investments in the state. This move is part of the government’s efforts to improve ease of doing business and attract more industries to Maharashtra. The decision to amend the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code (MLRC) 1966 will be brought in the budget session in March 2025. The government aims to expedite the process of establishing new industries by simplifying the regulatory requirements. This step is in line with the Ease of Doing Business initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
