Machattu Vasanthi death: The prolific singer hadn’t many hits, but had a sweet voice

Machattu Vasanthi, a talented playback singer in Malayalam cinema, passed away at the age of 81 in Kozhikode. Although she wasn’t very prolific, she had a beautiful and soothing voice that was loved by many. Her most famous song was the melodic duet with Yesudas, Manimaran thannath, from the classic film Olavum Theeravum. This song, with lyrics by P. Bhaskaran, continues to be popular even today. Vasanthi was introduced to Malayalam cinema by music director M.S. Baburaj and had her first hit with the song from the film Minnaminungu. Her contribution to film music will always be remembered, and her passing marks the loss of another voice from the golden age of Malayalam music.
