A plumber from Surat donated the organs of his six-day-old baby girl, saving the lives of three children with end-stage organ failure. The liver was transported by train to Mumbai for a 13-month-old boy with a rare liver disease. The transplant at Nanavati Hospital was successful, and the recipient child is recovering well. The child has been undergoing treatment for a rare genetic disorder, and the only cure is a liver transplant. The father and mother were not eligible donors, so the child was registered for a cadaveric organ transplant six months ago.
