The minister emphasized that only a portion of the Damagundam forest land in Vikarabad would be used for the VLF radar station, with efforts made to minimize harm to trees. He criticized BRS leaders for spreading misinformation and questioned their opposition to a project that enhances national security. The minister also pointed out that the necessary orders for the facility were issued back in 2017. He reassured that only a small number of trees would be affected and efforts would be made to translocate them. The second VLF naval facility was initially planned during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s administration in 2010.
