In 2024, Karnataka experienced a bountiful Southwest monsoon after facing droughts and deficit monsoons in previous years. The state received excess rainfall until the end of September, with rivers, reservoirs, and canals filled to capacity. However, the heavy rainfall came in short spells, which may not have a significant impact on the agricultural sector. While IMD reported 11% excess rainfall, KSNDMC data indicated 15% excess rainfall during the monsoon months. The prolonged dry weather in September reduced the overall impact of the excess rainfall on the agricultural sector.
