Karnataka High Court: Hc Says Can’t Dispute Expertfinding Of Zero Visual Defect | Bengaluru News



The Karnataka high court recently dismissed a petition by a 19-year-old student seeking admission to an engineering course under the visually impaired quota. The student claimed to have a visual impairment beyond 40% but the ocular examination report stated her “visual disability is 0%”. The report was issued by experts in ophthalmology and carried the weight of an expert opinion under the Indian Evidence Act. The court emphasized the importance of respecting expert opinions and noted that soliciting multiple reports would only create confusion. Ultimately, the court dismissed the petition, cautioning against setting a wrong precedent that may breed more mischief.
