The Karnataka government is taking a strong stand against the drug menace by forming a ministerial task force and planning to make drug peddling a non-bailable offence with strict punishments. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards drugs and highlighted the increasing concern of synthetic drugs in the state. The task force will be headed by the home minister and will work towards fast-tracking cases, strengthening rehabilitation centers, and conducting regular assessments of police operations. The CM also stressed the importance of community involvement, especially among students, in combating drug abuse. The government is determined to eliminate the drug menace and hold law enforcement accountable for their actions.
