Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Bengaluru has directed officials to withdraw notices served to farmers regarding Wakf land issues after observing that opposition parties like BJP and JDS were using them for political gains. The decision comes after BJP’s statewide protest over the issue. A high-level meeting was held where the Chief Minister instructed officials not to harass farmers and nullify any unauthorized modifications to land records. The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of officials and accused the opposition parties of potentially using the Wakf land issue to disturb peace. BJP MLA R. Ashok alleged that notices were served to farmers with the intention of taking away their land, calling it ‘Land Jihad’.
