The Karnataka cabinet will be discussing the controversial socioeconomic and educational survey report, known as the ‘caste census’, in their upcoming meeting. CM Siddaramaiah will make a decision on its implementation after the discussion. The report has faced opposition from dominant communities, but OBC leaders are advocating for its implementation. The report was submitted in February 2024 but has not been presented to the cabinet due to concerns ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. A delegation of former chairpersons of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission will be meeting with the CM to push for the report’s implementation and address other demands from OBC leaders.
