Justice Sanjiv Khanna appointed new CJI, to take oath on Nov 11



Justice Sanjiv Khanna has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of India by the President. He will be the 51st CJI and will serve for a little over six months, demitting office on May 13, 2025. He will take the oath of office on November 11. The appointment was announced by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal after consultation with the current CJI, D Y Chandrachud. Chandrachud recommended Khanna as his successor, as he is set to retire on November 10.
