J-K Assembly passes resolution seeking restoration of special status of erstwhile state



The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution urging the Centre to hold talks for the restoration of the special status of the region. BJP members, led by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, opposed the resolution, claiming it was not part of the agenda. Amidst chaos, the resolution was passed, leading to BJP members tearing copies and creating a ruckus in the House. The Speaker eventually put the resolution to voice vote and it was passed. The resolution reaffirmed the importance of special status and constitutional guarantees for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP members’ actions were criticized by other members, and the House was adjourned briefly after the resolution was passed.
