IUCN bestows Harry Messel Award to Assam scientist for conservation efforts



Dr. Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, a renowned conservation scientist from Assam, was recently honored with ‘The Harry Messel Award’ for Conservation Leadership by the Species Survival Commission of the IUCN. His dedication to species conservation on the ground and his leadership within the SSC were recognized at a meeting in Abu Dhabi, where experts discussed the urgent issues of biodiversity and climate change. Dr. Talukdar’s impressive contributions include organizing meetings among Asian Rhino Range states to enhance conservation efforts. He is also the founder of Aaranyak, a leading biodiversity conservation organization in North East India. With a wealth of experience and numerous publications to his name, Dr. Talukdar continues to make significant contributions to wildlife conservation efforts.
