The Coast Guard has a project called Operation Olivia to protect Olive Ridleys and their breeding habitats. Recently, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Rani Abbakka rescued an Olive Ridley turtle caught in fishing nets off the coast of Chennai. The turtle was struggling to free itself from the discarded nets. The Coast Guard personnel were able to safely rescue the turtle, highlighting the importance of protecting marine life and their habitats.
