IIT Bombay struggles to fill reserved faculty positions | Mumbai News



IIT Bombay, along with other IITs and IIMs, is facing challenges in filling reserved faculty positions despite being required to follow the quota system. This shortage in both general and reserved categories raises concerns about the state of education in India. An RTI filed by a student group showed that in 2023, IIT Bombay struggled to find suitable candidates from OBC, SC, and ST categories. While there was some improvement in 2024, the issue persists across other prestigious institutions as well. The institutes are dedicated to attracting top talent for all positions, and while candidates from reserved categories receive certain concessions, quality remains a top priority in the recruitment process.
