The state cabinet in Mumbai has decided to rename 26 government industrial training institutes after social reformers and personalities who have made significant contributions to the sector. For example, the ITI in Thane is now called Rajmata Jijau Govt ITI, while the one in Pune’s Aundh will be known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Govt ITI. This decision brings the total number of renamed institutions to 40. Additionally, the cabinet has approved the creation of 4,860 positions for special education teachers in response to a Supreme Court directive. Existing teachers in the field will be placed in these new positions, as per a cabinet note.
