The high court in Bengaluru recently directed the DG-IGP to circulate details of a suspect named Deepika to police stations across the state after finding a pattern of deceit in her actions. Deepika had accused multiple men of rape and other offenses, leading to unnecessary legal proceedings and harassment for the accused. The court noted that Deepika had a history of registering false complaints against different husbands/companions since 2011. The judge emphasized that her actions were a “decade-old saga of deceit” and directed police stations to conduct a preliminary inquiry before registering any complaints made by her to prevent further harm to innocent individuals.
