The High Court in Bengaluru emphasized the need for politicians to focus on policies rather than engaging in personal attacks. Justice M Nagaprasanna stated that continuous mudslinging against each other should be stopped, urging members of all political parties to speak on policies instead. The case involves a defamation suit filed by Agriculture Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy against former MLA S Suresh Gowda. Cheluvarayaswamy alleged that derogatory allegations made by Gowda had caused mental agony and sought legal action under relevant sections of the IPC. The hearing has been adjourned to September 19, with the trial court instructed to defer its proceedings until then.
