The Hatkeshwar flyover in Ahmedabad, meant to last for 100 years, will now be torn down after just six due to poor construction quality. The flyover, named Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was inaugurated in 2017 but began crumbling within five years, leading to its closure in 2022. Despite efforts to salvage it, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation decided to demolish and rebuild the structure. After issuing multiple tenders, a Rajasthan-based firm showed interest in rebuilding the flyover for an estimated cost exceeding Rs 100 crore. Negotiations are underway to reduce costs before final approval.
