India’s Green Hydrogen Mission is making good progress, with production set to begin by early 2027. The focus is on reducing the cost of green hydrogen and its storage, which will be crucial in the future. The government has allocated Rs 20,000 crore for the mission, with a target of 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen capacity by 2030. Gujarat alone aims to produce 3.5 million tonnes. Companies are already looking at opportunities in green hydrogen production, with a tender for ‘green ammonia’ currently live. Experts believe that green hydrogen will play a key role in decarbonizing the economy and reducing carbon emissions in sectors like steel.
