The right-wing group Sri Ram Sena in Vijayapura, Karnataka, recently felicitated Parashuram Waghmore and Manohar Yadawe, who were released after seven years in jail for the alleged murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh. The group believes that the two men were wrongly imprisoned by the Congress government and welcomed them as heroes. The video of their hero’s welcome went viral, with members of Sri Ram Sena chanting slogans in support of Hinduism and India. Waghmore and Yadawe were granted bail on Oct 9 and were honored with a puja at a temple and by garlanding a statue of Shivaji.
