In Bengaluru, four police officers, including a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector, were suspended for wrongfully arresting two innocent individuals in a drug case. An inquiry revealed that the informant who tipped off the police had a personal grudge against the duo and provided false information. The suspended officers were found to be colluding with the informant. The arrested individuals’ family members approached the police commissioner, leading to an investigation and subsequent suspensions. The informant had a vendetta against one of the arrested individuals and orchestrated the false arrest by planting drugs on them. The police are conducting a departmental inquiry into the matter.
