Former Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey joined Congress on Thursday, citing his belief in the party’s ideology. He has been associated with Congress since 2004 and feels he is now back in the secular family. Pandey, an IPS officer of the 1986 batch, retired in June 2022 and was arrested by the ED and CBI in an illegal phone tapping case allegedly involving officials of the National Stock Exchange. He was released on bail following orders of the Supreme Court.
