With a long weekend coming up, flight prices from Chennai to Madurai, Salem, Coimbatore, and Tuticorin have tripled. Many passengers are opting for flights over trains to get to their hometowns faster. For example, flights to Coimbatore that usually cost around Rs 3,500 have shot up to Rs 11,000, even reaching Rs 6,000 for last-minute bookings. Similarly, fares to Madurai have surged from Rs 4,200 to Rs 18,000, and tickets to Trichy and Salem have also seen significant price hikes. Despite the higher costs, many travelers are willing to pay to reach their destinations quickly during the holiday weekend.
