Five IAS officers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have challenged the Centre’s order to relocate them to their respective state cadres after serving in their current postings for the past 10 years. They have approached the Central Administrative Tribunal in Hyderabad to seek retention in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh based on their preferences. The officers claim that the Centre’s decision goes against the directions of the Telangana high court and is based on faulty criteria. They have been given a week to join their new postings in line with the cadre division that occurred during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
