The Airtel Africa Foundation has launched a fellowship program for undergraduate students from African countries studying at IIT Madras Zanzibar. The fellowship, with a budget of $500,000, will benefit 10 students pursuing a BS in data science and artificial intelligence for four years. Recipients, known as ‘Airtel Africa Fellows’, will receive full college fees, US$12,000, and US$500 for living expenses. This initiative aims to provide educational opportunities to deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds and support future leaders in Africa’s technological and economic growth. The program will assist students from 14 African countries and is part of Airtel Africa Foundation’s efforts to promote digital inclusion and education. The minister of education in Zanzibar commended IIT M Zanzibar for providing high-quality technical education to students in the region.
