During the “Food Safety Fortnight” campaign in Gandhinagar, the state Food and Drugs Control Administration seized over 2.26 lakh kg of suspected adulterated food items worth Rs 6.32 crore. This included items like ghee, sweets, edible oil, and dry fruits. The health minister mentioned that raids will continue to ensure citizens do not consume adulterated food, with strict action against those involved in unethical practices. The FDCA commissioner highlighted that the drive aimed to ensure only pure food items are sold during the festive season, with 8,246 samples collected during 115 raids. Additionally, a “Food Safety on Wheels” campaign during Navratri educated people about their rights as consumers.
