Election Commission Dismisses Sanjay Raut’s President’s Rule Claims as Baseless | Mumbai News

A senior ECI official in Pune dismissed Shiv Sena (UBT) politician Sanjay Raut’s claims about the possibility of President’s rule in Maharashtra after the assembly election as unfounded and baseless. Raut had alleged that the election schedule was designed to hinder MVA from forming a government effectively. The official clarified that the ECI’s role is to conduct elections and submit the list of elected MLAs to the governor, and the timing of the election process does not support Raut’s claims. Constitutional experts also explained that President’s rule would only be necessary if no clear majority emerged among the parties or alliances after the election.
