ECR alignment from Marakkanam changed; greenfield access-controlled road planned for 30.8 km

The National Highways Authority of India is changing the alignment of package 3 of the East Coast Road from Marakkanam to improve traffic flow and safety. A 30.8 km greenfield access-controlled stretch will allow motorists to reach speeds of up to 100 kmph. The road will be expanded to six lanes and will include vehicular underpasses for local traffic. The project aims to reduce congestion in Puducherry and provide a smoother route for motorists. Land acquisition is underway, and efforts are being made to preserve the environment with the planting of saplings. The project is expected to benefit those traveling to JIPMER and Cuddalore.
