The Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd is set to have a simple groundbreaking ceremony on Sept 12 at RPF grounds in Matunga Railway Colony, marking the beginning of the project. Adani Realty is the lead developer of this project established by the state government. The Union cabinet approved the transfer of 256 acres of land for housing for Dharavi residents. There is opposition to the redevelopment by the Adani group, with plans to disrupt the ceremony. Two master plans have been submitted for redevelopment, with public feedback to be considered. Eligibility surveys are being conducted for the project, with plans to transfer all land required for the project.
