Desperate Ex-sarpanchs Hit the Streets, Cry for 5-Year Dues



Sarpanches in Telangana protested at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s residence demanding settlement of pending bills for works in their villages. Police detained around 2,000 protestors in different parts of the city. The sarpanches had taken loans for various village projects and were promised reimbursement by the government. BRS and Congress leaders are blaming each other for the delay in payments. The sarpanches are urging the government to clear the pending bills, with BRS leader T. Harish Rao condemning the arrests as undemocratic. Panchayat raj minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka assured that the government will clear all pending bills and blamed the previous BRS government for the situation.
