To tackle air pollution ahead of Diwali, Delhi Pollution Control Committee has imposed a ban on firecrackers in the National Capital Territory until January 1, 2025. This ban includes manufacturing, storage, sale, and online delivery of all types of fireworks. The decision follows the Delhi government’s earlier announcement to ban all firecrackers until 2025, including eco-friendly ones. The state environment minister emphasized the increase in air pollution during winter and the role of firecrackers in emissions. The ban aims to prevent inconvenience and aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to combat air pollution. Such bans have been in place since 2017, with the latest measure being part of a comprehensive Winter Action Plan.
