During the nine-day Navaratri period and Vijaya Dasami, liquor sales in Telangana crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark in just 10 days, bringing in a total of Rs 1,057 crore for the excise department. Beer sales, with 18 lakh cases sold, played a significant role in this revenue. So far in the 2024-25 fiscal year, the state has earned Rs 19,857 crore from liquor sales, with 10.45 lakh cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) sold. Despite a dry day on Gandhi Jayanti, there was a 20% increase in sales compared to the previous year. Liquor sales in the state have been consistently growing each year since its formation in 2014, starting from a revenue of just ₹10,000 crore.
