Cryptocurrency Fraud: Man loses 14 lakh in cryptocurrency fraud | Thiruvananthapuram News

In Thiruvananthapuram, in the first case registered, a crackdown on cryptocurrency was carried out in the rural area of the district. From 32 individuals, 14 lakh rupees were recovered as part of the crackdown. Details about ways to become wealthy by investing in cryptocurrencies were explained, and the person involved in the case was in contact with a local woman. He added people to a Telegram group, where he sold cryptocurrencies to many individuals claiming to be wealthy. However, all profiles in the group turned out to be fake. The person then directed them to buy cryptocurrencies from a site called Global India, which turned out to be a scam. He transferred money from their accounts, promising attractive profits. When profits did not materialize, he forced them to invest more. Despite depositing 14 lakh rupees in various time periods, none of them saw any profit. When a woman asked for her money back, she was removed from the group and site. Eventually, the police were informed, and the person was charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code for fraud and cheating. It is advised for people to be cautious and not fall for such schemes.
