People in Vijayawada were seen buying earthen diyas on the eve of Diwali, but firecracker sales had a slow start. Traders at Vajra Grounds managed to sell only 20% of their products by 4 p.m. with not many visitors. The sellers were hoping for more footfall in the evening despite concerns about rain. Fortunately, it did not rain heavily. The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms in certain areas due to a cyclonic circulation. Despite the slow start, sellers are optimistic about sales, especially for costly crackers. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has allotted grounds for sellers, but many are choosing private grounds. Safety measures are being enforced at all stalls to ensure compliance with rules.
