Congress has accused Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch of a conflict of interest, claiming that her advisory firm provided services to companies regulated by Sebi while she held a senior position at the regulatory agency. The Congress spokesperson also alleged that her husband received large payments from Mahindra and Mahindra Group while she was adjudicating cases against them. Congress called this a criminal conspiracy and demanded full disclosure of clients. They pointed to a link between payments received by her husband and settlement orders issued by Sebi. The regulatory agency has not commented on the allegations.
