A man in Chennai was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy in his neighborhood. The boy was playing near his home when the man threatened him with a broken beer bottle and assaulted him. The boy managed to escape and sought help from college students, who caught the man and handed him over to the police. The man was charged under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the IPC. The court ordered the state to pay compensation to the victim and imposed a fine on the convict. In a separate case, a 43-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a girl in his neighborhood.
