The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed charges against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh for allegedly accepting a bribe while working with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai. Singh, who was heading a search team in connection with a money laundering case, allegedly demanded a bribe from a jeweller and threatened to arrest his son if not paid. The jeweller reported the incident to the CBI, leading to Singh’s arrest in Delhi. Singh is currently in jail custody, and a phone not registered in his name was seized during his arrest.
