Leandro Uchoas from Brazil is using Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence to address domestic violence issues in his country through his organization Shanti Brasil. By engaging with convicts and organizing restorative circles for women, he is working towards reducing repeat offenders and promoting non-violent communication among children. Similarly, international alumni from Gujarat Vidyapith are also using Gandhian principles to address various issues in their countries. For example, Claire Lhermitte from France is tackling ‘mines colonialism’ in Africa, while Mbaye Mballow from Gambia is working on peace-building using Satyagraha techniques. Hishika Ramchurun from Mauritius is researching Swadeshi and Swaraj in the context of Gandhian thoughts.
