The Bombay High Court has ordered the demolition of seven illegal floors in a building in Khar (W) and directed the BMC to complete the demolition within three months. The court stated that parties who violate building or environmental regulations should not benefit from regularization. The HC found that the building had been constructed beyond the approved plans and issued a notice for demolition in 2018. The petitioner, who had misled the court, was fined Rs 50,000. The court emphasized that only genuine deviations should be condoned and illegal constructions should not be tolerated. Compliance with the demolition order was to be reported by BMC by Jan 20.
