In 2012, a bomb was found planted on a bicycle on Pune’s Jangli Maharaj Road, which was later defused. Munib Memon, an accused in the serial blasts case, was granted bail by the Bombay High Court after more than 12 years of pre-trial detention. Memon’s lawyer argued that his prolonged incarceration violated his right to a speedy trial. However, the public prosecutor opposed bail, stating that the charges against Memon were serious. The high court had previously rejected Memon’s bail plea in 2022. The explosions on Jangli Maharaj Road had caused injuries and an unexploded bomb was also found.
