A 72-year-old retired banker in Ahmedabad tragically took his own life after being blackmailed for 30 years by a woman who threatened to falsely accuse him of rape. He had paid over Rs 1 crore to her and her family during this period. His son found him unconscious and rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. In a suicide note, the deceased accused the woman and her family of extorting money from him and stated that he was being abused and harassed to the point of taking his own life. Police have registered a case against the woman and her five family members for abetment to suicide.
