The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) set up a stage at the Yamuna’s Chhath Ghat to remind the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of their promise to clean the river. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva took a dip in the polluted waters, accusing the AAP government of corruption and misusing funds meant for cleaning the river. He challenged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to join him in the river, highlighting the promise to clean it before Chhath Puja 2025. The political rivalry has intensified as both parties blame each other for the pollution in the Yamuna. BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor welcomed Kejriwal and Atishi to inspect the condition of the river, while the AAP blames BJP-ruled states for discharging untreated wastewater into the Yamuna.
