Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, known for her Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Maghahi folk songs, passed away at 72 after battling multiple myeloma since 2017. She was on ventilator support at Delhi AIIMS due to complications from the blood cancer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, praising her popular songs associated with festivals like Chhath Puja. Sinha was famous in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh for her folk songs, as well as for Bollywood tracks like “Taar Bijli” and “Kahe Toh Se Sajna”. Her death is a loss for the music world, leaving behind a legacy of melodious songs.
