Senior NCP politician and state cabinet minister Chhagan Bhujbal expressed concern about the safety and security of people in the state, particularly in light of recent incidents like the killing of Baba Siddique. He emphasized the importance of having “good officers” in the police department to maintain law and order. Bhujbal called for both the home minister and the chief minister to take responsibility for citizen’s safety. He referenced his own tenure as home minister when he successfully handled a similar situation. Bhujbal criticized the current state of the Mumbai police department and urged the government to appoint capable officers to address the issues effectively.
