‘Bhasha Gaurav Week’ to honour Assam’s linguistic diversity: CM Sarma

The “Bhasha Gaurav Week” starting on November 3 aims to celebrate the ‘Classical Language’ status awarded to Assamese. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the importance of honoring not only Assamese but also the 14 other languages spoken in the state, including Bodo, Bengali, Manipuri, and Nepali. Various events such as storytelling competitions, language fairs, and creative writing workshops will be organized during the week. Sarma urged educational institutions, social service organizations, and literary societies to participate in the celebrations. State ministers will participate in events across districts, except in constituencies with by-polls scheduled. Sarma emphasized the need to show gratitude to all who have contributed to the elevation of Assamese language.
