Former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accused Congress of using Olympic medallists Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia as pawns in a conspiracy to gain control of the Wrestling Federation of India and attack the BJP. Singh claimed that the Congress nursed a grudge against him after he defeated Deepender Hooda in the 2012 election to the WFI. He dismissed Phogat and Punia as pawns and accused the Congress of conspiring against the BJP. Singh also questioned Phogat’s allegations of sexual harassment, saying that the truth will come out in time.
