Ahmedabad is aiming to host the Olympics in 2036, but is facing a growing issue with stray pigs roaming in key areas designated for major projects. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is planning to hire pig catchers for the first time to address the problem, which has been exacerbated by improper waste disposal and cultural taboos around catching pigs. With an estimated 5,000 pigs in the city and their fast breeding, the situation is quickly getting out of control. Residents have been complaining about the pig menace, particularly in areas like Ranip, Sabarmati, and Chandkheda. Despite the challenges, the AMC is determined to tackle this issue as it is their responsibility under the law.
